1. Abu Simbel
Abu Simbel is an archaeological site whose interest lies in all the temples found there, more specifically in Nubia, in southern Egypt. These temples make up the Nubian Open Air Museum and were declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1979.
The origin of these temples dates back to between the 2nd and 13th centuries BC . The first pharaoh to order the excavations for these enclosures was Ramses II. The goal was to create a monument in honor of his wife Nefertiti and himself. One of the reasons for this tribute was to commemorate the victory of the Battle of Kadesh.
The construction of the temple in honor of Ramses himself began in 1284 BC, and the construction lasted 20 years. The temple in honor of Ramses is one of the six that make up this archaeological site. Abu Simbel is one of the main tourist attractions in Egypt.
2. Funerary Temple of Seti I (Abydos)
The impressive funerary temple of Seti, also known as the Great Temple of Abydos, was built in order to gain the benevolent attention of the mighty god Osiris, who was considered the sovereign beyond this lifetime.
The temple began to be built under the command of Pharaoh Seti I in Abydos, although it was completed by his son Ramses II, who also belonged to the XIX dynasty.
When Seti I died, Ramses expanded and completed the work by adding two more patios and a 62-meter pylon. The temple is dedicated to seven deities: Osiris, Isis, Horus, Amun, Ra-Horajti and Ptah, although it should be noted that the main and most important in this particular case is Osiris.
