The London Ferris wheel is one of the great attractions of the city and, in addition, there are several activities to do near the London Eye. What to do near the London Eye?

Thanks to the location of the Ferris wheel, we can enjoy some of the city’s greatest attractions without the need for long journeys or having to take public transport. Walking, and in a few minutes, you will reach known and interesting places. These are just 5 ideas:

1. Big Ben

Big Ben is one of the most characteristic places in London and one of the must-see stops in the city. In fact, next to the red telephone box, this slim tower is one of the quintessential British symbols. To see it up close, you just have to cross the river.

The Big Ben tower is located on the northwest side of the Palace of Westminster. It is the third tallest clock tower in the world and has the largest four-sided clock on the planet. The tower was completed in 1858, but the clock did not start working until a year later, until September 7, 1859.

2. Palace of Westminster

The Palace of Westminster is also known as Houses of Parliament, as it houses the two houses of the United Kingdom Parliament : the House of Lords and the House of Commons. It is situated on the banks of the River Thames and is unmistakable.

This majestic construction was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987. The history and wealth that surrounds this palace is extraordinary, although it had to be totally rebuilt after a fire that devastated the old palace in 1834.

The building has more than a thousand rooms, and its services include libraries, dining rooms, bars and even gyms. A magnificent neo-Gothic monument of which Big Ben is part and whose visit is one of the activities near the London Eye that you must do.

3. Westminster Bridge

This bridge connects Westminster and Lambeth. In fact, it is located right in front of the Palace of Westminster and, of course, Big Ben. It is what you will see on one side, on the other, the London Ferris wheel.

The bridge that we can cross today opened in 1862. It is 250 meters long and 26 meters wide. It is unmistakable with its seven arches and its green color.

4. Hungerford Bridge

The Hungerford Bridge also allows us to cross the River Thames. In fact, it is situated between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge.  But in this case it is an iron bridge intended for the passage of the railway. In this way, we can see a very different bridge from Westminster, but with a unique style worthy of being appreciated.

The SEA Life London Aquarium is a great opportunity to discover an incredible world under the sea. In addition, if you travel with children, it is a perfect activity to do near the London Eye that you will all enjoy.

In it you can see animals of more than 500 species, including 12 sharks. It has an underwater tunnel that allows you to enjoy spectacular images. And it is practically at the foot of the London Eye.
