When it comes to choosing special restaurants in the Spanish capital, there are undoubtedly hundreds of proposals for all tastes. But probably, the Dos Cielos restaurant is one of the best gastronomic proposals that can be found in Madrid. We want to talk to you about him. Can you come with us?

A special place

The television Torres brothers inaugurated the new Dos Cielos just a couple of years ago. It is in the heart of Madrid de los Austrias, within the prestigious and elegant Hotel Meliá Gran Palacio de los Duques. And its menu is characterized by the technique and affection of the brothers.

Interior of the Dos Cielos restaurant

Even before entering the premises, you can breathe a different atmosphere, which perhaps cannot be seen in another restaurant in the capital. Divided into two floors, to get there you have to cross the hotel’s courtyard.

It occupies an old stables. It is that place where the living rooms are located, with two different environments, and the kitchens in which the magic that we later see in the dishes is generated.

Eating at the Dos Cielos restaurant in Madrid is, without a doubt, a unique experience. And sign up the following if you dare to visit it: don’t forget to go up to the roof terrace for a drink before dinner. It is one of the most special places in the city.

The Torres brothers’ kitchen

The gastronomic style of Sergio and Javier Torres, better known as Torres brothers, is clearly influenced by the figure of their grandmother Catalina. She was the one who taught them to cook when they were little, and from her they rescued their famous cannelloni.

As they define themselves, their cuisine is “a kitchen of memory, of memories, in which the product is king and is treated with absolute care to obtain its maximum flavor”. They are characterized by the care, affection, care and hours of cooking. The latter is especially visible in its clean and flavorful broths.

The specialty of the house

One of the points in favor of this restaurant in which critics and customers agree is that its menu is varied but, above all, made with the highest quality products. Fact that makes it difficult, and a lot, the task of choosing. And they are all much more than appetizing.

Therefore, it is impossible to say which is the specialty of the house, because all its dishes are. Shrimp with garlic, a nod to Madrid cuisine with its cod tripe, wild duck barred with pears, or its incredible rice dishes, such as pigeon and black olives, are just some of its proposals.

As for the wines, there are always safe ones, like those of the Juan Gil de Jumilla wineries. But there are also some from other sources, such as some wines from Jerez or even wines from the Community of Madrid.

The dessert menu is not far behind either. We can enjoy the suggestive “apple and cucumber”, “rosemary, mandarin and pine nut” or an incredible creamy brioche with ginger, honey and lemon.

To taste these delicacies you have to scratch your pocket a bit, as it is true that it is not the cheapest restaurant in the city. The average price of a menu without drinks costs from € 50. You can also try a tasting menu (starter, first and dessert) for € 85. But without a doubt, this experience is worth living.
