The enchanted Hinatuan River is just 270 meters long. But what is striking are  its crystal clear waters.  Waters that reflect striking colors that go from blue to green, passing through turquoise.

The first mystery has to do with its origin, since it is completely unknown where the water that gives it life comes from. There are those who even resort to mythology. And there is a legend according to which the enchanted river is the work of the fairies and elves that continue to inhabit the place.

In addition to this legend, some fishermen claim to have witnessed strange phenomena.  What’s more, they say that there are special fish that cannot be caught in any possible way. The locals attribute it to the effect of the engkanto , spiritual beings that can take the human form.

However, some experts assure that this peculiar river was created with water from the sea that arrived through long tunnels and deep and underground caverns. This would explain the second mystery: the salinity of the river, something unusual, since most, as well as lakes, ponds and waterfalls, are bodies of fresh water.

Another singular fact, there is a bell that rings at three o’clock. It means that tourists cannot continue bathing in the river. The staff in charge of their care then throw food into the waters, causing large groups of fish to come out of nowhere. After feeding, they disappear little by little.
