What to see in Costa Rica from day 1 to 5: San José and Alajuela

We started the tour of the capital, San José. Here you can take advantage of it for cultural and historical tourism and, therefore, different from the ecotourism that takes place in the rest of the country. Some of the places to visit are the Amón neighborhood, the Jade Museum, the National Theater or the Plaza de la Democracia.

From there we moved to Alajuela, where part of the Central Volcanic Mountain Range extends.  Here we will visit one of the great attractions of the country, the Poas volcano. It has one of the largest craters in the world and can be accessed almost to the rim.

Then we will go to the Braulio Carrillo National Park. It has a conservation area of ​​almost fifty thousand hectares, making it the largest protected area in the central region of Costa Rica.

After returning and resting in our accommodation, whether in San José or Alajuela, it  is time to head to Cafetal Britt, located in the Barva de Heredia farm. There we will learn about the complete process of making coffee, a product of great importance in the country and worth tasting at some point.

After the third day, it  remains to visit the La Paz Waterfalls Garden Natural Park, which includes the famous La Paz waterfall, in which the water falls from a height of thirty seven meters. Or you can go rafting in La Fortuna from about sixty dollars, there are several companies that offer the service.

From day 6 to 10: national parks and Tamarindo Beach

The sixth day can be dedicated to getting to know the Arenal Volcano National Park and its various charms: lava flows, the ceiba tree more than four hundred years old and a long list of natural wonders. You can also go hiking in it to appreciate the fauna that inhabits it.

In the following days it is time to visit the Tenorio Volcano National Park and the Monteverde area, with its hanging bridges in the middle of the forest. This is located about two hours from Río Celeste, which, as its name suggests, has impressive blue waters.

On the tenth day, it is time to enjoy Tamarindo Beach, one of the most famous and accessible in Costa Rica. It is characterized by its gentle waves and by its crystalline waters, but also by its reefs or by the exuberant vegetation that surrounds it. In addition, it allows you to perform various activities such as surfing .

From day 11 to 15: Manuel Antonio National Park and the Caribbean beaches

In these last days we will visit the  Manuel Antonio National Park, one of the most beautiful parks in the world. It is not for less, since it has numerous white sand beaches or lush foliage in the middle of imposing mountains.

The last day we will spend in San José and we will take the opportunity to see everything that did not give time at the beginning or, simply, to rest after so many days dedicated to everything there is to see in Costa Rica.

But first we will make a stop in the province of Limón, where there are numerous and popular Caribbean beaches. Perfect for getting a little color before heading home.

One of the most famous is Punta Uva, known for its reef, hence it has little waves and white sand. We must also mention Manzanillo, a true tropical paradise that allows its bathers to practice sports such as snorkeling or swimming, but also to relax and enjoy the environment that surrounds them.
